ACROCrop

ACROCrop is a robotics-based solution for protecting crops against losses caused by frost. Although frost is generally considered a “force majeure” in agricultural operations, it occurs to varying degrees in most growing seasons, leading to considerable economic losses.

There are frost control methods that include flying helicopters over the crops to mix the air into different layers, which is not environmentally nor economically feasible for farms in Europe.

ACROCrop uses autonomous remote-controlled gasoline-powered helicopters in combination with IoT sensors and comprehensive software support, providing a revolutionary technological solution to offer a frost protection service as well as a crop monitoring service.

The ACROCrop project, developed by the European organisations Alpha Unmanned Systems, Elmibit, Picterra, Finca Zerberos and GeneticAI, has won the Open Call of agROBOfood, funded by the European Union, over other European projects. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under agreement No. 825395.
